Experience

Sedgefield Academy of Excellence is a Home School Tutor Centre catering for learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12.

We include General Educational Development(GED), Cambridge, IMPAQ, Teneo and Think Digital support.

The Academy is an affordable dual-medium, co-educational (mixed-gender) facility.

Our  Educators/Tutors are eager to embrace a broad manner of tuition.

Education

Small classes, where each child has quality time with their tutor, receiving focused, stimulating and exciting education.

Independent learning is promoted while the teacher/tutor remains on hand to help with concepts the learners are struggling with.

We offer support for  learners with special educational needs. Learners are encouraged to practice self-discipline.

SAE is not a school, but functions as a home-based Education Support Centre.

Why Homeschooling?

1. Choice

Homeschooled learners have access to more subjects than those that are typically offered in schools. In a traditional school, FET Learners are typically restricted to choose only a certain number of subjects or subject combinations depending on the resources available. However, this does not apply to Homeschooled learners (depending on your curriculum of choice).

2. Sociability

Pursuing Homeschooling doesn't mean that your child misses out on social activities. In fact Homeschooled children can have more time to engage in several extra-curricular activities and integrate with a variety of peers.
There are Homeschool communities that organise sport and other activities. There are also Homeschool Tutor Centres where learners engage with each other daily, just as in traditional schools.

3. Flexibility

There is a high flexibility aspect of Homeschooling that is well-suited for children who pursue talents at a higher level, such as professional athletes and even entrepreneurs. This allows them to pursue their dreams while getting an education. Learners with Special Educational Needs can also be accommodated according to their needs, which is not the case in traditional schools.

Vision

  • To be a dynamic, future-focused, innovative, respected institution of excellence which inspires a passion of learning.
  • To develop learners into well-adjusted adults who are equipped for the future.
  • To cultivate values of respect, integrity, compassion, responsibility and justice.

Mission Statement

  • Providing a welcoming, safe, happy Centre where everyone is respected and listened to.
  • A Centre where we take pride in ourselves and our achievements, enabling children to become confident, successful learners.
  • Providing a professional, quality support system which aims to develop the full potential of all learners in the academic, physical and emotional aspects of their growth.
